Solar keratosis on skin areas exposed to sunlight. Solar keratosis (actinic keratosis) occurs in the areas of the skin that are exposed to sunlight, most often on the face, the edges of the earlobes (in men) or the backs of the hands. It is a precursor to squamous cell carcinoma.
