Vardenafil for Erectile Dysfunction

Vardenafil doses between 5 and 20 mg are more effective than placebo for erectile dysfunction. Level of evidence: "A"

A systematic review 1 including 9 studies with a total of 6809 subjects was abstracted in DARE. There was a 26% (95% CI: 22.89 to 29.11) increase in the success rate for penetration and a 29.8% (95% CI: 26.47 to 33.06) increase in the success rate for maintaining erection. The WMD for erectile function domain of the International Index of Erectile Function questionnaire (EF-IIEF) was 5.06 (95% CI: 3.67, 6.45) for a 5-mg dose, 6.16 (95% CI: 5.25, 7.07) for a 10-mg dose, 6.91 (95% CI: 6.11, 7.70) for a 20-mg dose, and 7.45 (95% CI: 3.97, 10.92) for a flexible dose. Vardenafil was associated with a higher rate of treatment-emergent adverse events, with headache, flushing, rhinitis-sinusitis and dyspepsia occurring at least twice as often.
