Keratoacanthoma on the Lower Lip

Keratoacanthoma on the lower lip. Keratoacanthoma grows into this size within a few weeks. It is often characterised by a conical, solid keratinous horn and a distinct epithelial collar at the base. Unless the pathologist is informed of the temporal history of the tumour, histopathological differentiation from squamous cell carcinoma is difficult. Treatment can be carried out by surgery or liquid nitrogen freezing. Do not leave the patient in the queue - the tumour can double in size in a couple of weeks!
