An epidermoid (epidermal) cyst now exceeding 1 cm in diameter had slowly grown in the ear of a middle-aged man. At the start of the excision, very superficial incisions are made with scalpel, followed by preparation with scissors along the cyst capsule. The capsule should remain unbroken during the procedure. The diagnosis is confirmed by bisecting the excised lump. See also video Excision of an Epidermoid Cyst.
