Chronic polymorphous light eruption on the skin of the arm. Chronic polymorphous light eruption (CPLE) is a common disease of unknown origin. The sun-exposed areas react on the evening of the first sunny days of spring or early summer. Itching is the main symptom. Protection of the skin with clothes is the best prophylaxis. Topical UV protecting preparations are of limited benefit.
