Purpura in the Foot

Purpura in the foot. Purpura refers to a small-scale haemorrhage in the skin. Initially it is bright red, later brownish. It often consists of spot-like petechiae. The colour of fresh purpura does not change when pressed with a glass spatula. The original disorder may be in the blood vessels or in the coagulation system, and further examinations are usually warranted (see Easy Bruising, Petechiae and Ecchymoses).
