Primary ulcer (chancre) of syphilis on the penis. The primary chancre of syphilis on the foreskin. The ulcer is almost painless; it has sharp borders. Inguinal lymph nodes are usually enlarged. At this stage, serological tests for Treponema pallidum antibodies may still be negative. Keep in mind also that the patient may have contracted other sexually transmitted infections (chlamydia, gonorrhoea, HIV).
