A systematic review 1 including 20 RCTs with a total of 1 737 subjects and follow-up ranging from 10 to 44 months, was abstracted in DARE. Pooled estimate of odds ratio for overall mortality based on 14 fully published English studies was 0.74 (95% CI 0.60 to 0.93).
