Bioresorbable Fixation Devices for Musculoskeletal Injuries in Adults

Bioresorbable implants have similar efficacy as the non-resorbable ones in the fixation of musculoskeletal injuries with lower need for re-operation. Level of evidence: "A"

A Cochrane review [Abstract] 1 [withdrawn from publication] included 31 studies with a total of 1880 subjects. No significant difference between the bioresorbable and other implants could be demonstrated with respect to functional outcome, infections and other complications. Reoperation rates were lower in some of the groups of people treated with bioresorbable implants.
