Treatment of Tendonitis

Anti-inflammatory drugs may provide some pain relief in the short term. Level of evidence: "C"

A systematic review 1 included 32 studies (nine prospective placebo-controlled) on treatment with anti-inflammatory drugs and 23 studies (eight prospective placebo-controlled) on treatment with steroid drugs. Some short-term pain relief with anti-inflammatory drugs was found in 5 of the 9 controlled studies. Three (of 23) studies showed beneficial effect of the injection at follow-up.
