Rupture of the Proximal Long Head of the Biceps Muscle

A 81-year-old woman felt a snap and slight pain in the right shoulder while arranging furniture. Rupture of the long head of the biceps muscle tendon ("Popeye muscle") was diagnosed clinically: the muscle belly bulges and is situated more distally than normal. The condition does not cause significant permanent functional impairment and hence it does not require treatment.
