Arbovirus Arthritis (Pogosta Disease)

Arbovirus arthritis (Pogosta disease). Arbovirus arthritis may occur in late summer. It is transmitted by mosquitos carrying an Alphavirus (Sindbis virus, or SINV). The clinical disease is known by different names in Finland (Pogosta disease), in Sweden (Ockelbosjukan), and in Russian Karelia (Karelian fever). The virus causes a maculopapular rash with few symptoms, lasting for a few days. Joint symptoms typically include pain upon movement, aching pain and swelling. The joint symptoms may become prolonged.
