Interventions to Prevent Occupational Noise Induced Hearing Loss - Legislation

Stricter legislation may reduce noise exposure in work places. Level of evidence: "C"

A Cochrane review [Abstract] 1 included one observational study to evaluate the effect of new legislation to noise exposure in the mining industry in US. The introduction of new legislation in the year 2000 was associated with immediate reduction of noise level from - 16.8 dB to - 27.7 dB or from -2.7 dB to - 3.7 dB per year in coal mines.
