Angular Cheilitis in an Elderly Person

Angular cheilitis in an elderly person. Angular cheilitis in the elderly is often associated with the use of dentures, bite collapse and resulting deeper furrow at the angular region. Candida is often at least a partial contributor. An intraoral yest infection may also be an underlying cause. If old dentures have caused loss of the vertical dimension of dental occlusion, relining or renewal of the dentures may facilitate the healing of the cheilitis.
