Pressure Ulcer on the Heel

Pressure ulcer on the heel. Unclassified pressure ulcer (pressure sore, decubitus ulcer) with evident necrosis. The depth of the necrosis is not obvious at this phase. On the heel, necrosis often develops into, at least, a grade 3, possibly a grade 4 pressure ulcer. A large share of pressure ulcers on the heel should be regarded as patient injuries since nearly all of them could be prevented.
