Melanoma on the Skin of the Back

Melanoma on the skin of the back. This pigmented lesion on the skin of the back of a middle-aged male was excised with 2-mm margins for histopathological study. It proved to be malignant melanoma. Some weeks earlier a punch biopsy specimen had shown only benign features. Any pigment lesion with irregularity in colour and shape should be excised totally for microscopic study.
