Enteral Nutrition Vs. Steroid Therapy for Induction of Remission in Crohn's Disease

Steroids are more effective than enteral nutrition for induction of remission in Crohn's disease. Level of evidence: "A"

A Cochrane review [Abstract] 1 included 8 studies comparing enteral nutrition to steroid therapy. Meta-analysis of 6 trials (n=352) yielded a pooled OR of 0.33 favouring steroid therapy (95% CI 0.21 to 0.53).
