Staphylococcal Folliculitis in the Beard Region

Staphyloccal folliculitis in the beard region.Folliculitis barbae is a rather common type of folliculitis affecting the beard region. It is caused by staphylococci. If antimicrobial treatment is not effective, the possibility of pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB) should be considered. In pseudofolliculitis, some hair shafts avoid being cut during shaving and as they grow, they may grow back into the skin and consequently cause an inflammatory reaction that looks like folliculitis.
