Perioral Dermatitis

Perioral dermatitis. Perioral dermatitis, a common but poorly recognized facial eruption that typically occurs in women over 30 years of age. It can affect perioral, perinasal and/or periocular skin areas and causes mild irritation of the skin. The approximately 1 cm wide symptom-free zone surrounding the vermilion border is a diagnostic feature. The disease has also been called perioral rosacea.
