White superficial onychomycosis. White superficial onychomycosis is a rare, superficial form of fungal nail infection, where T. mentagrophytes or T. rubrum grows on the superficial layer of the nail. Sufficient treatment consists of topical antifungal therapy and mechanical scraping. Fungal infection may occur also in other nails or on the skin.
