Neurodermatitis on the Ankle

Neurodermatitis on the ankle. Neurodermatitis is manifested as a single eczematous patch especially on the ankle region. Another typical location is the back of the neck. The skin is thickened and hardened from continuous scratching. The margins are ill-defined. The original cause of the vicious circle of itching and scratching usually remains unclear. The itching and the eczema are alleviated by potent corticosteroid creams, possibly applied under occlusion.
