A systematic review 1 including 9 studies with a total of 1 336 subjects was abstracted in DARE.
The quality of anticoagulation was better in intervention group than control (pooled OR 1.29, 95% CI: 1.12 to 1.49). Results on the effect of intervention on clinical outcomes reported 14 major haemorrhages in 700 participants in the intervention group versus 25 among 636 in the control groups
(2.0% versus 3.9%). Combining all major events (death, major haemorrhage and thromboembolic events) a total of 28 (4.4%) clinical events were reported in the intervention group
and 39 (5.6%) in the control group.
