A systematic review 1 including 38 studies was abstracted in DARE. The ingestion of diets containing soy protein (averagely 47 g/day) compared to control regimens was accompanied by a significant reduction in serum concentrations of total cholesterol (9.3%), LDL cholesterol (12.9%) and triglycerides (10.5%). HDL cholesterol increased 2.4% (not statistically significant).
Comment: The review was not well reported, and its quality is therefore difficult to assess.
