Rehabilitation for Patients Living at Home More Than One Year after Stroke

Therapy-based rehabilitation services provided one year or more after stroke may not have any significant effect on patient or carer outcomes. Level of evidence: "C"

A Cochrane review [Abstract] 1 included 5 studies with a total of 487 subjects. Overall, there was inconclusive evidence whether therapy-based rehabilitation interventions one year or more after stroke were able to influence any relevant patient or carer outcome.

Comment: The quality of evidence is downgraded by imprecise results (limited study size for each comparison) and by inconsistency (heterogeneity in interventions and outcomes).
