Angular cheilitis in the elderly woman. Angular cheilitis in the elderly is mostly associated with the use of dentures. Malocclusion resulting from worn teeth leaves the angular region wet and the elastotic old skin deepens the furrow at the angular region. Moisture, irritants and Candida albicans form the combined aetiology leading to painful fissures at the worst. Combinations of antifungals and corticosteroids often give relief.
