Actinic Cheilitis in the Lower Lip

Actinic cheilitis in the lower lip. Actinic (solar) cheilitis is a disease affecting the lower lip (the upper lip is in shadow). This is a premalignant ailment (the analogue of actinic keratosis in the lip) that can be effectively treated with liquid nitrogen therapy. Actinic cheilitis requires, however, a rather vigorous technique. A biopsy is necessary to rule out a malignant change. The treatment result should be followed-up.
