A 93-year-old man with advanced prostatic cancer had a 1000 ml urinary retention (video Residual Urine Volume (Ultrasonography)). If such a large retention is observed, it is recommended to check if hydronephrosis is present. Hydronephrosis is visible as dilatation of the renal pelvis (a fluid cavity that often looks like two separate cavities in the middle of the kidney, white arrow). This patient had also a markedly dilated ureter (hydroureter, green arrows).
