Nodular Prurigo in the Arms

Nodular prurigo in the arms. Nodular prurigo (prurigo nodularis, PN) in a middle-aged man. The condition is also known by the name lichen corneus obtusus (LCO). It is not known why the skin of certain persons reacts like this to scratching. The patient scratches and fiddles with the itching skin so that scabby solid nodules of different sizes are formed. A compulsive vicious circle of itching and scratching may have its origin in innocent mosquito bites. All the internal diseases that may cause pruritus should, however, be excluded, as well as incipient pemphigoid.
