Phytophotodermatitis

Phytophotodermatitis . Phytophotodermatitis is a phototoxic reaction, caused by exposure to psoralens (8-MOP, 5-MOP) obtained e.g. by contact with Heracleum species and subsequent solar UV irradiation. The phenomenon is obligatory; no previous sensitization is needed. Healing takes place spontaneously and no scarring is seen. Post-inflammatory pigmentation is common and long-lasting.
