A typical site for a ganglion Ganglion is the dorsal side of the wrist. On palpation a ganglion is smooth, and firmly fixed to underlying tissues. Only symptomatic ganglia need treatment (aspiration and possibly steroid injection). The ultrasonographic appearance of a ganglion is a regularly shaped fluid collection without echoes.
