Family Therapy for Attention-Deficit Disorder

Family therapy is probably not effective for attention-deficit disorder in children and adolescents. Level of evidence: "C"

A Cochrane review [Abstract] 1 included two studies with a total of 322 subjects. Data were extracted for both studies. The findings from Jensen 1999 indicated that no difference could be detected between the efficacy of behavioural family therapy and treatment as usual in the community. The finding from the available data from Horn 1991 slightly favours treatment over medication placebo.
