Itch in the Mid-Back (Notalgia)

Itch in the mid-back (notalgia).Pruritus in the mid-back, also known as notalgia paresthetica, is an itch localized between the shoulder blades in the upper back. It may last even several years. The skin is thickened by scratching and gets a brownish pigmentation. Prickling sensations or increased sensitivity to touch also occur. Regular topical corticosteroids, antihistamines and other methods to treat itching are unfortunately often ineffective.
