Angular cheilitis in the elderly. Angular cheilitis in the elderly is mostly associated with the use of dentures. Malocclusion resulting from worn teeth leaves the angular region wet and the elastotic old skin deepens the furrow at the angular region. Moisture, C. albicans and/or S. aureus form the combined aetiology leading to painful fissures at the worst.
