Lipid Profile as a Marker of Cardiovascular Disease Risk
The assessment of basic lipid profile is effective in determining the cardiovascular disease risk of a patient. Level of evidence: "A"A technology assessment report 1 on biochemical markers of cardiovascular disease risk was abstracted in the Health Technology Assessment Database 2. The basic lipid profile (high-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein, and triglycerides) provides a useful indication of cardiovascular disease risk and serves as a guide for statin therapy in a primary prevention context.
