Junction naevus. Junction naevus is a non-elevated brown pigment cell naevus, which often has atypical features: the margins may be ill-defined and the colour may be uneven. Because of the suspicious appearance these naevi are often excised for histological confirmation. As the name implies, the nests of melanocytes are located at the junction of epidermis and dermis.
