Soft-Tissue Sarcoma of the Shoulder

Soft-tissue sarcoma of the shoulder. Large soft-tissue sarcoma of the right shoulder region in a 68-year-old man. In MRI, the tumour's size was 11 × 11 × 7 cm and some necrosis in the tumour was detected. The diagnosis according to core needle biopsy was fibrosarcoma, grade 3. Prior to surgery, the patient was treated with four courses of cytostatic drugs and also with radiotherapy. In an operation, the entire tumour was removed intact and the tissue deficit was covered with a pedicled musculocutaneous latissimus dorsi flap. Histologically, the response to the preoperative treatment was good. After surgery, the patient received two further courses of cytostatic drugs after which the follow-up period started.
