Postnasal balloon tamponade in epistaxis. A. An empty lubricated tampon is inserted in the nose as deep as possible, and 5-10 ml of saline is injected into the posterior, i.e. the smaller balloon. B. The tampon is pulled forward until the posterior balloon is stuck in the choanal orifice. The pull is maintained and the anterior balloon is filled with 15-25 ml of saline.
