Contains calcium-sorbitol counterion and ↑ fecal potassium excretion through binding of potassium in the lumen of the GI tract.
Instruct patient to take patiromer as directed and adhere to prescribed diet.
Advise patient to take patiromer ≥3 hr before or 3 hr after other medications.
Instruct patient to not heat suspension or add to heated foods or liquids. Do not take in dry form.
Rep: Advise females of reproductive potential to notify health care professional if pregnancy is planned or suspected or if breastfeeding. Patiromer is not absorbed systemically, so it is not expected to harm fetus.
