Microbiologic Characteristics 
- Anaerobic, curved, motile, bacillus
- It may be Gram-negative (it is sometimes a Gram-variable organism).
Incubation Period 
Epidemiology 
- Mobiluncus strains have been isolated from the vagina in over 50% of women with bacterial vagninosis, and in about 5% of women with no evidence for bacterial vaginosis.
Infections 
- Other bacteria (mainly Gardnerella vaginalis) are also frequently isolated from the vaginal fluid of women with bacterial vaginosis.
Diagnosis 
- Culture (anaerobic)
- Direct immunofluorescence of vaginal fluid
Treatment 
Alternative Treatment 
- Amoxicillin-clavulanate
- Metronidazole is the drug of choice for bacterial vaginosis, regardless of the presence or absence of Mobiluncus in vaginal fluid.
