Introduction

Thyroxine-binding globulin (TBG) may be measured directly by radioimmunoassay. Estrogens elevate serum TBG levels; thus, women who are pregnant, who are receiving estrogen therapy or oral contraceptives, or who have estrogen-secreting tumors have higher TBG levels.
