David W. Kimberlin, MD, FAAP , is a leading American pediatric infectious diseases physician, researcher, and editor. He holds the Sergio Stagno Endowed Chair in Pediatric Infectious Diseases and serves as Vice Chair for Clinical and Translational Research and Co-Director of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Kimberlin has been Editor of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Red Book and its Clinical Decision Support Chart, including the 3rd edition, and has contributed to multiple editions. His research focuses on neonatal and congenital viral infections and antiviral therapies, and he has published extensively and led major collaborative clinical studies.
