(A) A 25-year-old man with pruritic and tender axillary lesions for several weeks. Multiple follicular pustules and papules are seen in the vault of the shaved axilla. Shaving facilitates entry of S. aureus into the superficial hair follicle. The lesions resolved with minocycline. (B) A middle-aged diabetic man with tender red crusted nodules surrounding hair shafts of the axilla.
