The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status classification system is widely used to estimate a patients risk of developing complications. 8 ASA I: normal, healthy patient ASA II: patient with mild systemic disease ASA III: patient with severe systemic disease ASA IV: patient with severe systemic disease thats a constant threat to life ASA V: moribund patient who isnt expected to survive without the procedure ASA VI: patient declared brain dead whose organs are being removed for donation |
