Pathophys and Cause

Cause: Molluscum contagiosum virus

Epidemiology

Can be venereally spread

Signs and Symptoms

Sx:Inguinal papules, anywhere in children

Si:Umbilicated inguinal, 1-4 mm, round, raised lesions

Treatment

Rx: Excise, freeze, burn; or, in children, less traumatically w cantharidin 0.7% applied w toothpick, cover w tape, wash off in 4 h; imiquimod (Aldara) (Antiviral Agents) qd under bandaid; curette after topical 4% lidocaine
