Use/Common Side Effects (CSE)

• Use: Acute and maintenance treatment of Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective disorder
  CSE: Somnolence, orthostatic hypotension, akathisia, EPS, parkinsonism

Geriatric & Dose Considerations

• Caution w decreased renal function; moderate to severe renal impairment (dose: 3 mg/d); ↑mortality with dementia-related psychosis

Assessment Cautions

• Causes ↑ in QT interval; avoid drugs that prolong QT int (e.g., quinidine). Monitor BMI, FBS, and lipids.
