• Range: 40–60 mg/d; 20–30 mg po twice daily

Use/Common Side Effects (CSE)

• Use: Major depressive disorder, Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD); GAD in children 7–17 yr
  CSE: fatigue, drowsiness, insomnia, ↓ appetite, constipation, dry mouth, nausea, dysuria, ↑ sweating, SEIZURES

Geriatric & Dose Considerations

• Use with caution; increase slowly

Assessment Cautions

• Contraindicated: Concurrent MAOIs, hepatic impairment/ETOH use; with renal impairment: start with lower dose. Monitor BP (↑ BP dose-related) & LFTs; monitor for suicidality
