Dose Range/Adult Daily Dose

• Brexanolone is administered continuously via IV infusion over 60 hr (2.5 d). Health-care provider must monitor throughout infusion and be able to intervene if needed. See full prescribing info for dosing and administration.

Use/Common Side Effects (CSE)

• Uses: Postpartum depression (PPD) in adults.
  CSE: sedation, somnolence, dry mouth, loss of consciousness, and flushing.
  Patients at risk for serious sudden loss of consciousness!

Geriatric & Dose Considerations

• Since PPD is related to pregnancy there is no experience with geriatric patients.

Assessment Cautions

• WARNING: At risk of sudden loss of consciousness/sedation during infusion treatment.
  Must be monitored at all times and monitored using continuous pulse oximetry. Stop infusion if hypoxia develops.
  D/C infusion or change regimen if PPD becomes worse or emergent suicidal ideation.
