Remember the six rights.

Check that you're giving the right drug, at the right dose, by the right route, at the right time, and to the right patient and that you include the right documentation.

Double-check the math.

You can never be too safe. Go over your math at least twice to make sure your calculations are correct, or have a coworker check your calculations.

Look at the label.

Examine drug labels closely—many of them look alike.

Notice the name.

Pay attention! Many drugs have similar-sounding or similar-looking names.
