The vulva is a term that encompasses all the major structures of the female external genitalia. These include the mons pubis, labia majora, labia minora, clitoris, vulvar vestibule, vestibular bulbs, Bartholin and Skene glands, urethra, and hymen. Due to the individual variations of the vulva as well as the wide spectrum of benign disorders of the vulva, differentiating between normal and pathologic variants can be a challenge. Categorizing disease processes by symptomatology can assist with evaluation and management.
