Blue Nevus
  • Dark blue macule or papule, occasionally present at birth and is usually small (<1 cm) and located on an extremity.

Nevus of Ito or Ota

  • Nevus of Ito is located over the shoulder and Nevus of Ota is usually periorbital.

Bruising

Management-icon.jpg Management

  • A complete physical examination should be performed to determine extent of the lesion and to determine the presence of other skin lesions.

  • Parents should be reassured that these lesions are benign and that spontaneous, complete resolution without sequelae is expected.

  • Blue-black pigment-specific lasers can be used for lesions that persist into adulthood and are of cosmetic significance.
